Dr. Cameron Nyman, Doctor of Chiropractic
Education:
Undergraduate: BS in Exercise Science, Illinois State University
Post-Graduate: Chiropractic Degree from Palmer Chiropractic College

Dr. Nyman learned the value of Chiropractic care at an early age, when he suffered a herniated disc in his neck while playing high school football. Immediately upon being injured, he temporarily lost the use of his right arm (a herniated disc in his neck was pressing on a nerve in his arm). Through Chiropractic care, Dr. Nyman returned to full participation in only one week! After this experience, he was so enamored with Chiropractic that he made it his life’s goal to become a Doctor of Chiropractic and help other people in a way that only Chiropractic can.

While pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Illinois State University in the field of Exercise Science, Dr. Nyman was very active in various athletic clubs and organizations, developing his love of nutrition and treating athletic injuries.

He then began his Doctoral program at Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. During his time at Palmer, he played on the school’s Division I rugby team as well as serving on the student council, the philanthropy club board, co-founding the school’s Chiropractic BioPhysics club, and achieving academic honors. While earning his graduate degree, Dr. Nyman dedicated his focus to becoming well versed in numerous Chiropractic techniques, studying over a dozen soft tissue, instrument, and manual techniques. He was eventually nominated for the school’s Clinical Excellence Award before being awarded his Doctorate in Chiropractic.

Since earning his Doctorate in Chiropractic, he has pursued post-doctorate certification in the most advanced form of spinal rehabilitation in the world, Chiropractic BioPhysics. Upon achieving his certification, he practiced at a spinal rehabilitation clinic in Longmont, Colorado for almost two years. He used his time serving Longmont to become certified in class IV laser therapy and spinal decompression, as well as utilizing PowerPlate vibration technology and functional rehabilitation techniques to better serve his patients.

Dr. Nyman had become an expert in finding a more permanent solution to the aches and pains that trouble nearly 80% of our society, but found that he could serve his patients even more profoundly by practicing functional medicine as well as spinal rehabilitation. He has since pursued education in the realm of functional medicine and is excited to change lives in Denver for many years to come!

Dr. Jon Follett, Doctor of Chiropractic

Education
Undergrad: BS Biology, University of Iowa
Post-Graduate: Palmer Chiropractic College Davenport

Dr. Follett started his professional career in the United States Air Force as a Security Force member, where he was able to serve people from all over the world. During his time in the military he saw many people suffer from the side effects of allopathic medicine and became involved in studying holistic health care. He became aware at this time of other forms of health care, specifically chiropractic.

His chiropractic intrigue continued while studying at the University of Iowa, where he became familiar with more specifics of chiropractic and the human body. Throughout his undergraduate studies Dr. Follett volunteered with the University of Iowa VA to help rehab veterans. At this time, Dr. Jon decided to go to chiropractic school.

Dr. Follett chose to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa where he worked in the Philanthropy office and Vets Club. During his time at Palmer, Dr. Follett focused on many different techniques, but had a specific interest in soft tissue integration and flexion distraction. He graduated in October 2014. After graduation Dr. Follett became certified in Activator, but eventually found his calling with the most advanced form of spinal rehab, Chiropractic BioPhysics. After becoming certified in CBP, he worked for a multidisciplinary practice in Northern Colorado for two years. Here he became certified in Class IV laser, spinal decompression, as well as utilizing Power Plate to ensure the highest quality care for patients.

Dr. Follett is very excited to be able to serve the Denver metro community, along with his wife, who serves on the Jefferson County public health department. When not in the office, you may be able to find Dr. Follett and his family playing up in the mountains.

Dr. Courtney Kelly, Doctor of Chiropractic

dr courtney kellyEducation
Undergraduate: BS in Biology, University of South Florida
Post-Graduate: DC, Palmer College of Chiropractic- Florida

Dr. Kelly has been extremely active from a very young age, from playing several sports to horseback riding to climbing oak trees in the backyard.  Around age eleven, she started feeling stiff and achy during sports. She
started seeing a chiropractor, which helped immensely. As a teenager, Dr. Kelly started getting headaches. She returned to her chiropractor for regular care and the headaches diminished. Wanting to be a veterinarian since she was six years old, Dr. Kelly had never thought about chiropractic as a career, until she happened to get a job as a chiropractic assistant during undergrad. It was an amazing experience watching patients live healthier, happier lives and heal without the use of medications or surgery. The chiropractor she worked for truly loved what he did and had an undeniable passion for helping people,
which inspired Dr. Kelly to pursue chiropractic as a career.

Dr. Kelly was (ironically) born in Davenport, Iowa (the birthplace of chiropractic), however, she was raised in Sarasota, Florida. While pursuing her doctorate at Palmer College of Chiropractic- Florida, she was the Event
Coordinator for the Sports Council Executive Board, a Clinical Teaching Assistant, and a Rehabilitation Clinical Assistant. When she wasn’t hitting the books, Dr. Kelly was the head coach for Volusia County’s Special Olympic
Softball Team and won Volusia County’s “Coach’s Leadership Award.”

At the end of her schooling, Dr. Kelly was nominated for the Clinical Excellence Award and the Dr. James Buerkle Memorial Award. Once obtaining her doctorate, a desire for adventure and change drove Dr. Kelly, her partner, and her cat to pack their bags and move across the country to Colorado.

Dr. Kelly’s goal is to empower her patients with the knowledge and confidence to live the life they aspire to. She loves working with active individuals and those who are wanting to better their health. Alongside her adjustments, Dr. Kelly utilizes various soft tissue techniques (trigger point therapy, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, and active release therapies) class IV laser, functional movement rehabilitation, decompression, and traction to optimize healing.

Dr. Kelly is currently completing post-graduate studies to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. Next Spring, she will be delving into a Chiropractic Biophysics Certification. In her spare time, Dr. Kelly enjoys
playing softball, rock climbing, hiking, SCUBA diving, and playing board games.

Chiropractic Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are Chiropractors Doctors?

A: Yes. Doctors of Chiropractic (aka “Chiropractors), are not medical doctors, but go through a similar four year post-graduate school to become licensed in the field of Chiropractic care.

Q: What Does A Chiropractor Treat?

A: Chiropractors can address a variety of pain and dysfunction under their license. Some common issues they address are neck pain, back pain, sciatica, migraines, shoulder and joint pain, and can make recommendations that pertain to other issues such as sleep disorders, immune issues, GI problems, and more.

Q: What Is A Chiropractic Adjustment?

A: An adjustment is the using a specific, controlled force in a precise direction applied to a specific area of the body (usually the spine, but could also be elbow, knee, hip, or wrist) to create structural alignment and eliminate interference to the nervous system. This creates more mobility and improved function, reduction in pain, and an overall elevation in health and wellness.

Q: Do Adjustments Hurt?

A: Adjustments should not hurt. Most patients feel relief when receiving an adjustment. Some post-adjustment soreness is common for those starting care, similar to the feeling one gets when starting a new exercise program.

Q: Are Adjustments Safe?

A: Yes. Chiropractic care, provided by a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic, is widely recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies available to address pain in the body.

Q: Why Do Adjustments Make That “Popping” or “Cracking” Sound?

A: That is the sound of air being released from joints. An adjustment affects the tissues that hold a joint together, and stretching those tissues releases small pockets of air.

Q: Are All Patients Adjusted The Same Way?

A: No. Adjustments are customized based on a patients individual physiology, symptoms, diagnostics, and structure. Each adjustment is designed for a specific outcome. A “one size fits all” approach is not something we utilize, or recommend.

Q: Will One Adjustment Remove All My Pain?

A: Probably not. There will likely be some immediate pain relief, but whatever is causing the pain will likely not be corrected in a single adjustment.

It’s best to think of Chiropractic care in the terms of other health activities like exercise, tooth brushing, or even taking medication. A single tooth-brushing does not eliminate all the plaque from a tooth. A single workout does not get someone their ideal physique. A single dosage of pain medication does not permanently remove all pain.

Q: Can I See A Chiropractor If I’m Pregnant?

A: Yes. Many pregnant women utilize Chiropractic care to relieve discomfort during pregnancy, and create an easier, more enjoyable birthing experience. Our clinic has worked with many pregnant women.

Q: Will I Need To Remove My Clothing At My Appointment?

A: No. In fact, we require you to be fully clothed at all appointments.

Q: Will I Need To Be Adjusted Forever?

A: No. You can be adjusted once, ongoing, or never. You are in charge of your care, at all times.

Here’s what we understand from research and experience: Whether it’s regular bathing, tooth brushing, exercise, or sleeping, these activities are simply choices people make to support their health, and their benefits are realized over time.

Chiropractic is both corrective in nature, and preventative in nature. It can “fix” things, and it can also prevent things from happening in the first place. Similar to the other activities listed above.

Where Chiropractic care fits into your priorities or lifestyle is 100% your choice, based on your goals, and we support your choice because it is your health.

Q: Why Would I Need X-Rays?

X-rays are used to understand what is happening within the body.

Check out the following X-ray:

What you see is a compression fracture. If we adjust this patient with a drop-table adjustment, they will be in so much pain they will leave the clinic crawling. This patient requires a very specific type of adjustment, delivered at a very specific angle, to get any kind of pain relief. We would never know that, without X-rays.

When it comes to health, we do not want to guess; we want to know we are actually helping a patient, and not making their problems worse. X-rays do that.

We also use them as a measure of progress. If someone has lost disk height, or spinal curvature, and they are experiencing the negative symptoms of that condition, then we want to track and manage the progress over time to improve it. We use objective diagnostics – like X-Rays – to hold ourselves accountable to progress.

Reports of Findings appointments last 30-45 minutes.

An adjustment lasts 5-7 minutes. A Decompression appointment lasts 15 minutes, as does a Class IV laser appointment.
